@charliekirk11 Beyond politics or history, the monument is a major work by Moses Ezekiel, one of the foremost sculptors of his era. (His other works include the bust of Thomas Jefferson in the Rotunda of the Capitol). It was a plea for reconciliation fronting the Confederate burial section.

@EndWokeness @jason_meister Beyond politics & history, the monument is a major work by renowned sculptor Sir Moses Ezekiel who other works include the bust of Thomas Jefferson in the Capitol Rotunda etc. As a 18-year-old VMI cadet fought at New Market, Va (5/15/1864) & is buried near the monument.
