@alison__berg Been carless in Cap Hill for 3 years! I have an e-bike, which is nice, but honestly rarely use it b/c I walk most places and take transit to work. Hardest thing is mountain trips, but I just go with friends and help pay for gas. Car-free life is very worth the extra logistics :)
@retauber@Denverite@CPRNews We need more transport journalism!! I'm a local bike planner and work with the city some; my big frustration is that Denver is way less progressive w/ mobility than it claims to be. They gotta be held more accountable for not sticking to their own transport plans & policies!
@SteveStaeger@NoSquish I'm working with GWV on a pedestrian mobility study for the Arapahoe-Yosemite-Peakview-Syracuse bounded area! Admittedly more focused on making the inner retail centers more walkable and inviting, but the bordering streets are part of it too!
It's a town full of people who are concerned about climate change but whose lifestyle includes driving hundreds of miles most weekends, in traffic, in very fuel inefficient vehicles.
@BikeThisCity With all those connections and places nearby, this might be the easiest few blocks in Denver to live car-free (I'm at 7th & Sherman and never regret getting rid of mine). Maybe they forgot a decimal in the parking count? 🫤
@SteveStaeger I heard about that. It was such a great connection; a shame they just gave up rather than even trying to fix the drainage.. no one would ever permanently close a street like that!
@SteveStaeger Used to be! I moved to Cap Hill last year, but still work in DTC and run by to the Willow Open Space occasionally. Hope all is well in Sturbridge :)
The Reimagine RTD project has drafted recommendations for the transit System Optimization Plan (SOP) that will be implemented between late this year and 2027. To see how your trips may change and give feedback by Feb 9, access the online mapping tool📌 https://t.co/721pJg8ICF
@NoSquish@TimWJackson Hi there, daily Broadway bus commuter here. I love the 0 just the way it is - lots of lovely people, flies by traffic, no need to deal with parking, some fresh air to/from my stops, lower carbon footprint, etc.
Please don't speak for me, Mr. Jackson.
Only 19% of the parking spaces are occupied by cars on S Irving. And traffic often travels 35+mph. Leaders are choosing to continue to prioritize convenient parking over a safe bike lane design. @MayorHancock pls do better.
Boulder likes to tout themselves as being progressive - and in a lot of ways they are - but they're also incredibly entitled. This deal is detrimental to RTD and the people who truly rely on it's service for mobility and access.
@SteveStaeger@MGoodland@ArapahoeCounty I worked on this map update! There are several new bike lanes and trail segments shown that didn't exist when the previous (2017) version was created; north extension of the E-470 trail is a notable addition.
Guessing you probably talked to Ray Winn? He's really wonderful!
