Cardiopulmonary scientist @OhioState. Making new discoveries in pulmonary hypertension and environmental toxicology. Passionate about scientific literacy.
Great @OhioStateSur GR today by our own #cardiac#surgery faculty member @MatthewGorr! Important work on cellular mechanisms of right ventricle remodeling in setting of pulmonary hypertension. Elucidating molecular pathways & immune modulation related to hypertrophy & fibrosis…
Another exciting grant to announce! #OhioStateSurg researcher @MatthewGorr has received a grant from @nih_nhlbi to study cellular changes that occur in the right ventricle in hopes it will lead to new types of therapies for pulmonary hypertension! Congrats, Dr. Gorr! 🙌
RA pressure-volume loops show ⬆️ RA stiffness & suggest atrioventricular uncoupling in pulmonary #hypertension pts w/ severe RV stiffness. RA cardiomyocytes are hypertrophied & in end-stage disease, there is RA interstitial & perivascular fibrosis. https://t.co/SK3bSszdhN #JACC
Kid: “Daddy, today we played with oobleck!”
Me:“Wow, is that a non-Newtonian fluid”
Kid: (Unphased) “Yea”
I think my kids are learning faster than I was.
After 5 years in the making, I am elated to share our work on how cardiac macrophages elicit atrial fibrillation @ScienceMagazine. Specially proud of our surgical MR model.
What a team we were with @MatthiasNahrend & @MaartenHulsmans + entire lab @MGHCSB

Sneak peek of an upcoming story on NBC4 tonight. It was stressful being interviewed by someone you see on the news everyday, but @EricHalperinTV is a class act!
Had some great news last week- my R01 scored at the 9th percentile! Grateful for @TheWoldLab for his never-ending support, and to @Gumina_Lab! @OhioStateDHLRI
