Quintasonic Brass's video of Pentacle, by Jason Dovel.
One of the toughest pieces I've recorded! Eighth note = 344, high D, lots of flexibility...lots of fun!!! Quintasonic Brass is: Vince DiMartino/Jason Dovel, trumpets; me, horn; Alex van Duuren; trombone Alex Lapins, tuba
Cool to have been named by audition a finalist for the 4th horn position of the Des Moines Metro Opera (summer orchestra)! I didnโt win the job, but feedback like that is always encouraging! ๐๐ผ๐๐ผ

I feel like just listening to Stewart Copeland's isolated drum tracks on songs by The Police are in themselves private lessons for all musicians, no matter the instrument. Your inner pulse is strengthened just from hearing his amazing time, grooves, and sound.
Our 2025 MSU Horn Choir Holiday Concert and Play Along was a lot of fun!!

I want to take a moment to thank our MSU Music Department Head, Daniel Brent Stevens, & Flute Professor, Olivia Boatman, for their tireless work in compiling/creating a thorough self-study for the accreditation process with the National Association of Schools of Music. Thank you!
Itโs so cool for me to work with someone like Noah who is super eager to hit the ground running as a band director! He will be a tremendous teacher, musician, and band director inspiring countless students VERY SOON!!! Way to go, Noah!!! ๐๐ผ
I am insanely proud of Noah Wade for his hard work in presenting an exceptional senior recital for his Bachelor of Music Education degree tonight!!! He played Schumannโs Allegro from Adagio and Allegro, Gina Gillieโs Reverie, and the Franz Strauss Concerto beautifully!!
Some music from just about my favorite Maxime-Alphonse etude transposed to Bb on the road today. Playing fundamentals in a parking garage takes me back to my time at UMKC. ๐๐ผ
