Used the PEDI-cat assessment. (Always makes me think, “pet-a-cat”) turned out to be a great assessment for both my low functioning student and my high functioning student! It’s a great assessment for children 0-21 to capture function and independence.
PT assessment of a child’s abilities in the school is made possible by awesome teachers and support staff. Feeling thankful for my incredible team and our educational system today! And, keep fighting #OklahomaTeachersWalkout thanks for being the leaders our nation’s children need
Many people think PT is about getting stronger, faster, reducing pain, moving better. It is! But when I think of PT, it’s all about balance. I may help people achieve balance, but I won’t leave you without giving you the tools to keep yourself there!
Spring break at LAUSD = R&R and some retrospective thinking. I want to build my network as a school-based PT. This is how we can get things done in the school. Make recommendations and plans for our students because our time with them is so constrained and limited.
Motivation is everything. A student today excelled because SHE chose the intervention. Yeah, I tweaked it a bit. But she did the work ;) so proud of my students!
The intersection between physical therapy and psychology is CRUCIAL in school-based PT. This week I will be assessing adaptive behavior and mastery motivation. I hope to foster these traits in my students this week and increase therapeutic outcomes and engagement.
PT is so often about finding equilibrium, balance, and symmetry. One of my students with Rett Syndrome needs seating adaptations to maintain an upright posture, but the more support I give her, the less postural muscle control she uses. #findingbalance#USCDPTIII632
