By that logic, only lawyers should be allowed in Parliament. Parliament was never intended to be a club for career academics. It was designed to represent ordinary Australians from all walks of life, including small business owners, tradies, farmers and workers. Voters decide who is qualified, not university admissions offices.

It’s amazing how the left thinks families only exist because of government programs. Australians were raising kids long before childcare subsidies became a political religion. Maybe tackle housing, energy and cost-of-living pressures instead of pretending every issue can be solved by spending someone else’s money.

@4mambo Nobody disputes that hardworking migrants have helped build Australia. The debate is whether today’s immigration settings are producing the same outcomes. Pointing to a success story from the 1950s doesn’t automatically answer concerns people have in 2026.
