@BrennanBaxt Mental health is one thing. Allowing a student athlete and getting to play after gambling on his team?! Get the kid some mental health. But talk about life consequences. Shit happens, you break rules you suffer the consequence. I deal with that in my life. Why shouldn’t he?
Yeah so did all the Iowa & Iowa State athletes that couldn’t play anymore for gambling for way less. Dude broke the rules, deserves to suffer the consequences, just like Iowa & Ia State athletes did. Sucks but so does a lot of things in life.
Texas Tech president Lawrence Schovanec, on Brendan Sorsby
“Brendan made a mistake, we acknowledge that, mistakes have consequences. At the same time, here’s a young man with a dream and vision to pursue a career.
“We felt, not to have the opportunity to pursue that career given the circumstances and evolving changes in this world athletes face, was unfair and unjust…”
When you have to release a 22-minute video explaining why *you need to keep someone on your team*.... it probably means that player shouldn't actually be allowed to be on your team 🤷♂️🤷♂️
@ThePageMonroe@TechAthletics@TexasTechFB Soo what about the rules they sign documents about . Pretty sure there is shit in there about not betting. If caught, you done. Iowa state athletes got caught for less & couldn’t play a college snap again. Sooo why is this different??
This shit just be crazy. Iowa and Iowa state athletes lost their entire careers for gambling far less than this dude. Be a great lesson in being an adult that he has to suffer the consequences. 🤷♂️🤦♂️
Texas Tech has a choice. No one is forcing the Red Raiders to play Brendan Sorsby. They are not backed into a corner. They can take his recovery seriously and support him by keeping him around/engaged with the program but NOT play him in games.
It shouldn't be a tough call.
He also said that Mexico was going to pay for the border wall, Hillary Clinton would go to jail, we would get mass deportations, we would cut the national debt, and we wouldn’t start new wars.
Sorry if I’m having a hard time believing this.
I love how @KeithMurphy handles this (from like 45:45 on). All class and discretion. Andy, being a good friend, doesn't hold back.
Man, have I heard stories...this is just the tip of the iceberg, and a big reason why I thought the school should have pulled the plug a LOT sooner.
