AI is opening new possibilities in de novo protein design—and the next critical test is experimental validation.
I’m pleased to share the Changjiang Cup 2026 Global AI Protein Design Challenge, an initiative I’ve had the opportunity to support.
On Sept 23, Mingchen Li, Chief Scientist at Matwings AI Lab, will share how high-quality data can power AI protein design and accelerate R&D and validation.

🚀Protein–ligand structure prediction, with open code and weights.
VenusFold achieved 69.78% docking success on the FoldBench protein–ligand benchmark.📊✨
We’ve released the inference code and model weights.

VenusFold uses the all-atom diffusion framework of AlphaFold 3 and Protenix. Its gains primarily come from two training improvements:
• Min-SNR loss weighting (γ=5)
• Muon optimization for matrix-valued parameters in the Pairformer and MSA modules.
Can AI agents automate molecular docking?
Our technical expert explores how MatwingsVenus™ uses natural language to prepare structures and run AutoDock Vina or DiffDock.
Could this be the future of scientific computing?

Matwings Technology has been named to the Forbes Asia 100 to Watch 2026—one of just 10 mainland Chinese companies selected.
Here’s how we’re building an AI-driven, closed-loop platform for protein R&D.
The platform is paired with an AI-powered lights-out lab:
AI design → automated wet-lab experiments → iterative data feedback
Automation spans plasmid construction and extraction, protein expression and protein purification.
