🟠 #BREAKING PAULINE HANSON FRONTS THE NATIONAL PRESS CLUB FOR THE FIRST TIME 🟠

Hanson steps up to the National Press Club podium in Canberra today. It's her first NPC address in 30 years of federal politics.

The televised luncheon runs 11:30am to 1:30pm AEST. Hanson delivers a speech, then takes questions from a panel of journalists, including Nine's chief political editor Charles Croucher.

WHAT IS THE NATIONAL PRESS CLUB?

It's a members' venue in Canberra at 16 National Circuit, Barton. The Club hosts televised lunch addresses from political leaders, ministers and industry figures. Prime ministers and opposition leaders give the same speech. Tickets go to NPC members and their guests. Bookings for today closed last week.

WHY IT MATTERS

It comes off the back of last weekend's Resolve poll for The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age, conducted between 8 and 13 June across 1,801 voters:

One Nation 29.5% primary vote (leading for the first time ever)
Labor 28%
Coalition 17% (a historic low)
Preferred PM: Hanson 33%, Albanese 29%, Angus Taylor 16%

Barnaby Joyce told Nine's Today on Monday that Hanson would be "up for grilling" and that the media would come "out for her with steak knives". Joyce said the party had to "man up to the challenge".

Hanson's National Press Club address is the kind of platform she's never had before. It's also the venue she'd most have been kept out of when she was being dismissed as a fringe player. Three decades on, the room comes to her.
