After 2013 and 2016 wars, a lot of countries that had promised and started investing in South Sudan abandoned us. Some even cancelled signed agreements because it wasn't safe anymore in South Sudan which was totally understandable.
However, two countries remained and still stand with South Sudan till today. Those countries are Ethiopia and Kenya. The biggest investments in South Sudan right now that's infrastructure(hotels and apartments) and financial sector(banks) are either owned or run by Ethiopians and Kenyans respectively.
I'm not saying other countries aren't doing anything in South Sudan because even Somalia is doing a lot in oil and gas but the gamble those two took on us is unbelievable. Even when KCB lost millions of dollars in 2013, they never thought of leaving South Sudan and still have loans till 2019.
One thing is for sure, there is ready market in South Sudan which is the only advantage we have over other East African countries. It's our hope that this will attract more investors because we shall surely need helping hands to push this young population.
It may not be now but time will come when it will be totally safe to invest in South Sudan. Time will come!!
