Rest is not the absence of work (though that will certainly help); Rest is the presence of peace.

Revelation 21:9-10
"And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues...
And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God"

#T503 C.S. Lewis inspired the Simarillion when he told Tolkien one day, “there is too little of what we really like in stories. I am afraid we shall have to try and write some ourselves.” We agreed that he should try space-travel and I should try "time-travel”’. (Carpenter, 172)

#T503 It’s so cool how Tolkien emphasized the shire and getting to Bree even though it was so small and almost forgotten in their “world” xD

#T503 Our class has been looking at the Hobbit as a Künstlerroman, but I’d argue that it’s also a Erziehungsroman! I’d read it to my kids.

#T503 Daaanng Tolkien was insane!! With his aptitude for languages, he had learnt: Danish, Dutch, French, German, Gothic, Greek, Italian, Latin, Lombardic, Middle English, Old English, Old Norse, Norwegian, Russian, Serbian, Spanish, Swedish, Welsh, and Medieval Welsh! CRAZY!

#T503 Gandalf’s belief in Bilbo (c.1) was met with disbelief. Only when the dwarves (his peers) believed in Bilbo did he believe in himself.

#T503 “A single dream is more powerful than a thousand realities.” –J.R.R. Tolkien
I just found out that I have been misquoting Tolkien all my life--This quote is actually from Nathaniel Hawthorne’s first published 1828 novel "Fanshawe". Hm! Still a good quote regardless.
