@StewartMcDonald Hi Stewart, I'm undertaking research on UK-TW relations and I would love to talk to you, what is the best way to get in touch? Cheers, Max
Former U.K. Prime Minister’s Boris Johnson's visit to Taiwan highlights the latter's growing role in British foreign policy in 2025. https://t.co/6p7nZCM5QE
Taiwan’s security in part rests on perceptions, particularly in the U.S., of its status. Should a generation of Americans emerge that is schooled and socialized by DeepSeek, the future for Taiwan appears incredibly bleak. https://t.co/RUU5qNjxNc
Indeed, appeals for clarity on the UK's approach towards #Taiwan , within parliamentary debates, often comes from the @Conservatives , with former PMs Liz Truss (as particularly vocal) and Theresa May (in a 2021 debate on AUKUS) raising the threat posed to Taiwan from China.
Moreover, former PM Boris Johnson set a markedly different tone to Starmer today on 🇹🇼 in a debate on Afghanistan in September 2021, where Johnson recognised issues 'between the People's Republic of China and Taiwan', again implying two separate entities.

This year I was awarded a Research & Publication Grant from the European Association of 🇹🇼 Studies for a conference Dr Rudolph Ng and I organised on the role of colonial maritime maps and how they shape, and continue to shape, Taiwan. An incredible day!
