We use real salami for a series of conceptual pulley problems from our book: hang a salami vertically, attach it to a wall over a pulley, balance two against each other with two pulleys. They're always shocked that the tension in the rope is the same in all three cases. 1/
Today’s quick #STEMstarter challenge: instead of just teaching “accuracy” & “precision” we dropped our pencils 5 times to determine if we were accurate or precise (or both!)
Make #STEM rigorous & fun!
Maps are a great way to help students practice adding vectors. I do this instead of the outdoor vector walk, since they can get more practice calculating and measuring components, which my AP students struggle with. I feel like it helps to sketch those results on tissue paper.
