1/I published an op-ed in @time explaining why I’ve introduced a regulation that would limit pretext stops in SF. Here’s why you should support it, regardless of your politics. THREAD https://t.co/51F0DWooic
Forty police arrests.
Zero charges filed by the DA.
"It sure sounds like the DA was saying that the cops just violated 40 people’s rights," a veteran officer said.

Over at SCOTUS, Justices Sotomayor and Gorsuch encourage defense counsel to keep pushing the originalist argument that misdemeanor arrests require a warrant if the crime is not committed in an officer's presence. https://t.co/UsN3dmPXVz #N
Today I issued Letter of Inquiry into the dangerous San Francisco police chase that sent 6 people, including a mother and child, to the hospital, resulted in two car crashes, and destroyed a parklet on Super Bowl Sunday (1/6)
I respectfully disagree. Two decades ago the people amended the charter to make commissioners independent from the Mayor. Last Nov, the people rejected an attempt to take away that independence. I will continue to serve with integrity and independence until my last day on 1/2
The only thing unusual about this removal is that *most* conscientious commissioners would do the classy thing and offer to step aside under a newly elected mayor. That Mr. Carter-Oberstone *won’t* tells me all I need to know about why he should go. (1/4)

A prominent S.F. Asian Democratic club has dropped out of the local Democratic Party.

"'Old White Billionaire Leads People's Revolution' is not a headline in anyone's typeset drawer."
Except, now, it is.
Who is Michael Moritz? And what does he want for San Francisco?

“Despite an earlier commitment to determine exactly how much of the $5.3 million SFPD paid SF Safe in the last five years was stolen, misspent or wasted, the department now says it has no plans to carry out the controller’s recommendation to figure out where every cent went.”
@OakSyder @HamasukiisGone@LuigiCPA So how many innocent people, in your view, should have to be maimed or killed every year so that chases for low level crimes can take place (bc serious crimes were already covered)?

@OakSyder @HamasukiisGone@LuigiCPA Our pre-Prop E policy was written by SFPD in 2013, it was already laxer than the avg policy. Prop E will result in more avoidable injuries and deaths to innocent members of the public. A recent (hour-long) chase just resulted in a little girl getting hit. https://t.co/dgZ3fLJwmz
@HamasukiisGone @OakSyder @LuigiCPA As you know, these aren’t my numbers. This is data from Cal DOJ that the Chronicle, Standard, and Mission Local all received and analyzed. https://t.co/RptX0d4zBC
