@VickyQuay@IanDishyfish@CreelScff Ropes, creels, dahns are in the water 24 hours a day in many areas. This practice is already a navigational hazard to other passive users of marine space. In effect these areas completely blocked off for exclusive use. And the megalomaniacs want more! Too much @marinescotland ?
@isleseafoods@Manuela_de_Rios@NicolaSturgeon If the @scff are wanting restrictions on fishing Maybe they shoud start with there own men and boats
You have a totally unregulated fishery work as many hrs and as many creels as you desire
All that seem to have happens is you Increasing the amount of gear In the water
@Manuela_de_Rios@NicolaSturgeon This lunatic idea would put many small family owned boats, processing factories, gear manufacturers, fuel suppliers etc out of business, mostly in rural communities. It's not supported by the vast majority of Scotland's creel fishermen, who refuse to join SCFF -they don't speak for me
@CreelScff@BDMLR@strandings@HWDT_org@WHALES_org Oh dear @CreelScff - blocking someone does not strengthen your position it merely highlights just how weak and flawed it is if this is your only option rather than debating the issue. Given just how harmful and reckless your proposals are I can understand your dilemma 🐳
@CreelScff@BDMLR@strandings@HWDT_org@WHALES_org I’m sorry but for reasons best known to yourself you haven’t answered the question at all - “Would you agree that increased creel numbers will increase the likelihood of whale entanglements in Scottish waters?” Me, I am a marine conservationist who pleasure fishes, you?
@CreelScff@BDMLR@strandings@HWDT_org@WHALES_org To minimise and address risk surely the last thing you would do is escalate what is directly responsible for that risk? You didn’t answer the question “Would you agree that increased creel numbers will increase the likelihood of whale entanglements in Scottish waters?”
@CreelScff@BDMLR@strandings@HWDT_org@WHALES_org Thank you for the link, some dreadful stories for whales on the SEA page I hadn’t fully appreciated just how concerning an issue this is. Would you agree that increased creel numbers will increase the likelihood of whale entanglements in Scottish waters?
@CreelScff There must be grave concerns for Scotland’s cetaceans with any proposed increase in levels of static gear, I would have thought a substantial reduction in static gear levels in Scottish waters more prudent than any increase. Is an impact assessment on your proposal available?
Eyup :-)
The weekend is here, so what does the weather have in store?
Saturday: Sunshine and showers 🌦
Sunday: Fine and calm, but cooler 🌥
After yesterdays stormy conditions, we have a complete about turn... https://t.co/46uR8DXIj9
@isleseafoods@CFAScot@IanDishyfish@VickyQuay@BBCScotlandNews @FergusEwingMSP That will definitely be one of the lessons needing to be learned from the last round of MPAs,fantasy economics and jobs simply do not sustain families and communities :-(
@BBCScotlandNews have you ever thought about doing a piece on the incredibly incestuous personnel and money go round within Scotlands marine eNGOs and why the vast majority of their funding comes from England, something rather odd about it all, one funder from South of the border alone -
@IanDishyfish@sustain321@TheJerryPercy@MaxPecten It beggars belief that some people involved in fishing fail to understand that many remote rural coastal communities would wither and die without scallop dredging. Jobs on boats, in processing factories, gear manufacturers, engineering, fuel supply, shops etc depend on it
