15 years ago I was talking to a Russian-speaking guy who claimed that his friend had used that very technique to boost his hashrate. If that trick wasn't publicly known back then, then it seems I was just one extra handshake away from ArtForz.

That person also mentioned Lolcust and Russian variant of his nickname - Смеханча - which is a combination of Смех (Lol) and Саранча (Locust). I don't remember the conext of that mentioning. Either Lolcust was the one who developed the hashrate boost trick or he was a friend of that Russian-speaking guy as well.

Interesting how memory stores something and then 15 years later recalls it being triggered by a single artifact...
