Going into my second season at Olympus highschool we have seen major improvements with our pitchers and catchers. The two things we speak on most are; Preparation and Identity.

Many athletes in their highschool careers do not prepare properly wether that is pre throw/practice or even at a more holistic level of not having hard enough and in-depth practice.

The way we have incorporated these philosophies have been breaking down our goals on what we are trying to accomplish and we wont move on till there is some higher level of understanding. Some examples are incorporating our pickoffs/1st & 3rds/ looks to bags/ catcher signs/ and Pfps into their bullpens. These are different for every player based on individual needs. 

Identity is also a major aspect into the success of our players. Finding who you are as a player and doing everything in your ability to be the best version has done numbers to our staff and team. Rather than trying to get a pitcher to throw like Verlander we have him be himself. While this is a very basic example, it takes time as a player to find your on field identity and it is different for everyone.
