📍Ling Fell in Bloom.

Against the odds, I caught this vivid sunset in the Lake District yesterday evening. I’m glad I trusted my hunch that the weather might turn; driving through heavy rain and setting off into thick fog felt questionable, yet it paid off tremendously. Just before twilight, the clouds parted suddenly, and the sun made a brief but glorious appearance.

From this vantage, the view stretches across the lovely Wythop Valley toward Sale Fell. The hillside’s sweep of purple heather — locally known as ‘ling’, from which the fell takes its name — looked especially rich, its hues deepened by the last light of day. And if you look closely, a faint rainbow rises from the pastures below ... a quiet punctuation to the evening’s drama.

Some consternation about the arbitrary (/political) nature of the conviction finding it's way into the English system, maybe?
