With the 79th pick of the 2026 NHL Draft, the Detroit Red Wings select G Michal Orsulak from the Prince Albert Raiders in the WHL
Ranked as high as 57, the 6'4, 225lb monster of an 18 year old had a .907 SV% and a 2.22 GAA through 36 games last season. He was the 2nd ranked NA goalie by Central Scouting.
From @eliteprospects, "Oršulák can mobilize with strong push power, manoeuvring across the crease in an instant, and challenges aggressively, maximizing his coverage of the net. Recovering from his saves quickly, he jumps up to his feet in a readied stance instantly. However, he often takes a more conservative approach, letting his six-foot-four frame and positioning do the work. These aspects allow him to thrive in tight."

Wings ship out Cossa to Utah for #23 and pick a highly skilled player in JP Hurlbert.
BAD: Admitting defeat on Cossa. First round draft pick (FIVE years ago) that just didn't pan out. I thought he was going to be our Vasilevskiy.
OKAY: 18-years-old. Headed to U of M. Does nothing at all for us right now. Which sucks from a fan perspective.
GOOD: Wings got rid of a player who wasn't working out and turned him into a first round pick, somewhat making up for shipping our first rounder for Faulk at the deadline. The Wings pipeline is also packed with goalie talent so you had room to sell off Cossa.
