@DanPhi11ips @JCaterRacing@MartinSLewis So when the boiler goes or there’s a roof/pipe leak, who bares the cost of fixing it? When the tenant doesn’t pay their rent, it is the landlord that is stuck keeping them there while they live scott free until the they can get a court order to evict them, which takes months (1)
@MumPolitics@hannahktbffh@gallopingcatast@JCaterRacing@MartinSLewis Okay, but now house prices are falling, so what are government going to do about that? This is the risk that people take getting involved in property
What about the increased mortgage interest landlords now have to pay. What percentage of the increased rents does that make up?
@MumPolitics@hannahktbffh@gallopingcatast@JCaterRacing@MartinSLewis By your logic then, shouldn’t supermarkets not charge on food or energy companies charge for gas/elec? Both are basic human needs.
There is always choice. Two parties enter an agreement, not one. I agree there needs to be humility, but it’s a two way street.
@Judyannne@JCaterRacing@MartinSLewis In this example what do these factory employees get for their service? Paid jobs..
This is why there is such thing as inheritance tax.. more money back to the state 👀
Is it that hard to believe that some wealthy people didn’t inherit anything and worked for what they have?
@hannahktbffh@gallopingcatast@JCaterRacing@MartinSLewis Well what do you expect her to do.. out the goodness of her heart let a stranger live in her home scott free for 18 months, while she’s off living somewhere else and potentially paying rent at the same time?
@Judyannne@JCaterRacing@MartinSLewis Your ideology is that those that try to earn a good living ‘have too much, and that’s not fair’…
You want to penalise entrepreneurialism and stifle hard workers, all to support your view of a nanny state where people can eat fish and chips everyday and do nothing (2)
@Judyannne@JCaterRacing@MartinSLewis Of course they worked for that money, how did they arrive at that position to buy an investment property in the first place?
Why is it hoarding if you’ve earned your way towards owning another property and then paying the taxes for it? (1)
@Judyannne@JCaterRacing@MartinSLewis Those that save more than they spend in order to make investments in assets that facilitate the growth of their net worth
@gallopingcatast@Peachyfruitcake@JCaterRacing@MartinSLewis Yeah it’s actually pretty scary, it can all too easily go so horribly wrong. My partner experienced the same with a tenant not paying. Similar to you her hand was forced to have to rent and in the end didn’t get much from it, but stress. Not for the faint hearted, indeed.
@RossDee @mijiayi @MartinSLewis Read what I’m saying rather than being an ignoramus.
I never said ‘eternal right’, I said ‘expect’ - they are not the same. Nor have I said I should not be ‘exposed to market mvmt’s’ owning a BTL. I am fully aware that I am exposed, hence why I expect a return for the risk.
@Peachyfruitcake@JCaterRacing@MartinSLewis This is the thing, it’s not as simple as that. I completely appreciate that people cannot afford to buy when they rent. But there’s this overt generalisation that all landlords are bad. Good landlords are there to support tenants but it works both ways.
@RossDee @mijiayi @MartinSLewis You don’t buy a car ‘hoping’ that each morning it’ll get you to work.. you ‘expect’ it to, per the agreement when you bought it.
You don’t buy a property ‘hoping’ a tenant will pay their rent each month.. you ‘expect’ them to because it’s what you agreed
