Ford has agreed to give UAW members a $9,000 contract signing bonus.

GM workers get $11,000. But their 40-day strike cost them about $6,000 in wages and reduced next year's profit-sharing payout by about $3,000.

So Ford workers effectively get $7,000 more by avoiding a strike.

Workers at the GMCH plant in Rochester, NY, represented by UAW Local 1097, have voted against the tentative agreement, according to unofficial results posted online & confirmed with the union hall:

Production: 17% Y - 83% N (91-455)
Skilled Trades: 21% Y - 79% N (19-71)

@UAW So if your a traditional employee and you've spent 6 weeks on strike by next Friday, that's over $7200 in pay, say with the $250 strike pay you supplemented it w $500 /week from your savings. The strike has cost you $10200 at the very least. Don't vote Yes for $800. Vote NO

GM STRIKE- UAW NEWSER- VO/SOT THU0351- Brian Rothenberg, Director of Public Relations for UAW, made it clear that the UAW GM Council has voted to recommend ratification of the contract. They also recommended that GM workers remain on the picket line until a vote takes place.
