The first week of the fourth edition of the Governor’s Cup concluded successfully, with exciting matches played across all the wards of Matungulu Sub-County. Congratulations to all the teams that emerged victorious at the ward level. Keep training, sharpening your skills, and preparing for the sub-county stage.

This weekend, the action moves to all the wards of Kangundo Sub-County and Mitaboni Ward in Kathiani Sub-County, as our young people continue to showcase their talent, teamwork, and determination.

My administration remains committed to creating platforms that identify, nurture, and support our young people to turn their talents into meaningful opportunities and livelihoods, in line with our vision of Chakula Mezani, Pesa Mfukoni.

My administration remains fully committed to uninterrupted service delivery and protecting the interests of the people of Machakos.

Following the prolonged FY 2026/2027 budget impasse, I have called upon all MCAs to engage in dialogue, reason together and put the interests of our people first.

I have done this before, and I will not tire in seeking consensus for the sake of Machakos. Political differences must never come at the expense of essential services, staff salaries and development.

Residents of Kangundo East Ward will no longer have to travel long distances to access maternal and ultrasound services. The new Maternal and Child Health (MCH) and Ultrasound Block that we have established at Kivaani Health Centre will provide quality antenatal, delivery, postnatal, child health, and ultrasound services closer to the people.

The facility will promote safe motherhood, enable early diagnosis through ultrasound services, and improve health outcomes for both mothers and children, ensuring residents can access quality healthcare closer to home.

To continue boosting aquaculture in Machakos County, we have stocked Kwa Nduu Dam in Kavilinguni Sub-location with 10,000 fish fingerlings, adding to the ones we had previously stocked, which are already supporting fishing activities and fish farming by residents.

Fish farming is emerging as a sustainable alternative for enhancing food security in Machakos County by increasing local food production, improving household nutrition, and diversifying livelihoods. Through this initiative, we are expanding fish production while creating additional income opportunities for families through fish sales.

This investment advances my vision of Chakula Mezani, Pesa Mfukoni by promoting sustainable agriculture, strengthening household resilience and improving the livelihoods of our people.

Commissioned the grading and murraming of the Kawethei–Kwa Ngutu Residence–Mbusyani Junction Road in Kawethei Sub-location.

The upgraded road will improve mobility, ease the transportation of farm produce and other goods, and enhance access to schools, health facilities, markets, and homes. Through continued investment in road infrastructure, we are opening up our communities to greater economic opportunities while improving the quality of life for our residents.

The county government of Machakos has allocated 10 acres of land for the proposed Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) Masii Campus and approved the temporary use of the existing Masii Level 3 facility as the development of the new campus progresses.

This transformative investment will strengthen medical training in our county while creating more opportunities for our young people to pursue careers in healthcare closer to home.

The proposed campus will be supported by the newly completed Masii Level 4 Hospital and other surrounding private health facilities, providing learners with practical clinical training opportunities.

To restore the livelihoods of the 226 traders whose businesses were affected by the fire that razed the Machakos Mitumba Market, I have issued financial support cheques to help them rebuild their businesses and resume their economic activities. I have also presented bursary cheques to 69 students whose parents' and guardians' businesses were affected by the fire, ensuring their education continues uninterrupted despite the challenges faced by their families.

As an administration, we are going to build a new Machakos Mitumba Market with modern facilities that will provide a safer, more organized, and conducive trading environment. We will continue working closely with the traders to ensure the new market meets their needs, supports the growth of their businesses, and safeguards their livelihoods.

Water is a fundamental pillar of sustainable development, supporting healthy communities, agricultural productivity, and economic growth.

The Kwa Metho Weir, one of the seven weirs we have constructed along the Maindaindu River in the Uamani sub-location, is providing a reliable water supply to over 2,000 households. The project is improving access to clean water for domestic use, enhancing crop and livestock production, and improving livelihoods while advancing our vision of Chakula Mezani, Pesa Mfukoni.

I sincerely thank APA Insurance, Utooni Developers, and SCIFORD for partnering with us in delivering this transformative project. Your partnership and support continue to play a vital role in delivering sustainable water solutions and improving the lives of our people.
