PASTOR LORAN LIVINGSTON (@CentralChurchNC): “There has never been a Christian nation, and never will be. You don’t live in one now. A Christian nation wouldn’t have killed and displaced 20 million Native Americans, or thought owning slaves was pleasing to God.”
Jonathan Banks reprises him Mike Ehrmantraut character from Breaking Bad for a message for America’s 250th
"There is right vs. left. And there is right vs. wrong"
250 years after July 4, 1776, the successor of King George III pays taxes and publishes his returns. The successor of George Washington does not. https://t.co/CbIXDe8UQY
It’s Friday morning in the North Carolina Piedmont, and I have this thought that keeps running through my mind. Somewhere in the US, a well intentioned, red blooded American is spending their last day with all 10 fingers. It could be me, it could be you, but it’s going to be someone. So when you’re celebrating this weekend, keep an eye on those digits.
I don’t delve into politics too often. This should not be a partisan issue.
Some people espouse term limits. For example, @MarindaVannoy1 post about Mitch McConnell is spot on. And there is certainly something to said for that proposition.
However, there is a much bigger issue, and that issue may help resolve the term limits.
+ A politician is a civil SERVANT. They SERVE the people.
+ A politician is a civil SERVANT. People are NOT a servant of the politician.
+ A politician is a contract employee. They are staff augmentation.
+ A politician is a contractor. They are TEMPORARY.
+ A politician is a contractor. They are TEMPORARILY employed by the people.
+ A politician is a contractor. They are not allowed to vote on pay raises form themselves. Only their employers, the people, are allowed to vote on whether or not the contractors are entitled to a pay increase.
+ A politician is a contractor. Their contract is “renewed” each election.
+ A politician is a contractor. They should receive no special benefits.
+ A politician is a contractor. They should not be allowed to participate in the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program, as they are contractors, NOT employees.
+ A politician is a contractor. They should live by the same laws they pass. No exceptions, no carve-outs.
+ A politician is a contractor. They are not entitled to a government pension.
+ A politician is a contractor. They do not receive any benefits when no longer a contract employee.
+ A politician is a contractor. They do not receive security protection upon leaving office. The only exception may be the President and the Vice President.
If everyone remembers this, if everyone enforces this, and if politicians understand this, many of them will naturally limit their time in office.
