If you happen to be checking out that other social media site, you can find me there (still posting here too though, and cross-posting news stories in multiple places)
Lexington's congressman weighs in on Vance's barbecue preference (which, upon reviewing his Kinston speech today, seems to be based on having eaten at Smithfield's while serving in the Marines in Havelock)
11 mostly rural NC counties are asking voters to raise sales taxes -- in an election with two tax-restricting constitutional amendments on the ballot. Why local leaders are trying anyway: https://t.co/opalUINdKf #ncpol
This is a broad, across-the-board complaint about campaign and PR folks:
Too many of you are sending releases with just hours' notice, particularly for events that your team has obviously had significant notice for. (Speaking engagements, forums, etc.)
@kyle_perrotti It's especially rich coming from a company that thinks two journalists (albeit very prolific, talented ones) is sufficient to cover the entire Triangle
AI is not going to "save local journalism." It can be a helpful tool in some instances, but AI-generated local news just erodes the remaining trust in news sources (but can be a handy excuse for media companies to lay off reporters!)
Axios CEO says the company is building an Axios Local "Super System" that "uses AI to track government action, community data and coming events" and will "give local reporters more time for local reporting." https://t.co/1kJTZyN1C3

Did @realDonaldTrump say midterm Congressional losses would halt the ongoing settlement of legal claims for Camp Lejeune's water contamination? I've taken heat for asking "did I hear what I thought I heard and did I interpret it correctly? Here's @RaleighReporter on State Lines #ncpol

In NC-11, GOP nominee Jennifer Balkcom is airing an almost entirely AI-generated ad hitting opponent Jamie Ager for hosting drag performers at his farm in 2019.
No AI disclaimers on the ad, which features fake footage of Ager dancing with a drag queen.
Updated the story with new numbers from the State Board of Elections, which reports "a slight increase in spoiled ballot rates in 2026 (3.1%) compared to 2022 (2.6%) at this stage in each election" (not the doubling Stein referenced) #ncpol

"I'm Greg Murphy. I drive to D.C. and across Eastern North Carolina all the time. Gas prices are too high. I get it. As a husband, I know groceries are very expensive. As a doctor and a patient, I know health care isn't affordable, so I'm working to bring down costs. To get oil flowing again, to fight greedy insurance companies, I aim to be a voice of reason in a sea of insanity."
