Happy Birthday to America's Second National Park!
On September 25th, 1890, President Benjamin Harrison signed legislation establishing the second national park in America – Sequoia National Park. Created to protect giant sequoia trees from logging, this national park was the first formed specifically to protect a living organism.
Sequoia trees are an icon of resilience and community, bringing visitors together from across the world to marvel at their size, age, and beauty.

NEWS: A permitting bill negotiated by the Trump administration and Senate Democrats includes language to protect against data center-driven utility hikes, multiple sources say.
The White House thought it had met Democrats' demands Wednesday night, but Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.), top Democrat on EPW, said they need more time to socialize it with stakeholders and lawmakers. It's likely to slip to lame duck.
The deal also unfreezes wind and solar projects, a major Trump concession. The administration says the same framework won't be available after the midterms.

NEWS: W.H. says permit reform talks have broken down.
W.H. official:
“The administration and congressional Republicans agreed to a strong bipartisan offer. The Democrats have since refused to take yes for an answer. If they think that the administration is going to freeze these concessions until the lame duck, they are severely mistaken," a White House official said.
Dems say talks are still ongoing.
Not a great sign.....
