Activists in Cork renewed calls for Ireland to cancel its upcoming UEFA Nations League fixture against Israel, arguing that sport should not be used to normalize or distract from Israel’s actions in Gaza.
The demonstration, backed by the “Stop the Game” campaign, urged Irish football authorities to take a stand in solidarity with Palestinians and reject what organizers describe as the sportswashing of human rights violations.

Dublin City Council has approved an emergency motion urging the Football Association of Ireland (FAI) not to participate in the upcoming UEFA Nations League matches against Israel in September and October.
The motion calls on the association to boycott the fixtures as a response to ongoing calls for action from Irish activists and officials.
Irish President Catherine Connolly received a message relayed from a Palestinian mother in northern Gaza, speaking from a displacement tent after losing her husband, three children, and other close family members during Israel’s genocide on the enclave.
She called for an end to the siege, the reopening of crossings, and urgent access to basic necessities including food, water, electricity, education, and reconstruction, while describing the extreme hardships of daily life under displacement and insecurity.
From the playing field to standing with Palestine, Ireland continues to inspire. Tighe’s hurling partner today? Ireland’s President, Catherine Connolly. 🇮🇪🇵🇸
I recently had the chance to send a message to the President of Ireland, Her Excellency Catherine Connolly.
President Connolly is a vocal supporter of Palestine and remains one of the few European heads of state to explicitly accuse Israel of carrying out a genocide in Gaza.

One of the most brutal scenes in human history has been leaked.
The moment the tents of displaced people were bombed in the southern Gaza Strip, in the Mawasi area of Khan Yunis, killing more than 500 civilians.
A video that the world must never forget.
Israeli soldiers are reportedly torturing Dr Abu Safya --a pediatrician, for God's sake!
Without strong pressure on Israel, these may could be his last hours.

Join us Wednesday 15th July at the Dáil when Central Bank Governor Gabriel Makhlouf will be back at the Joint Oireachtas Committee. The Government must act to stop the Central Bank enabling Israel to fundraise for genocide, apartheid against Palestinians. #StopFundingGenocide

Absolutely despicable, shameful BBC News report this eve on Israel's illegal incarceration and torture of Dr Hussam Abu Safiya where they repeated the apartheid state's lies about him at length, not even mentioning that he is held without charge or trial. Complicity in his abuse.
The Crumlin native has been a prominent voice in the Stop the Game campaign, which aims to stop the scheduled Nation’s League matches between Ireland and Israel. https://t.co/WsxYxy0u5J
Learn about how, through the Central Bank, Ireland is a home member state for apartheid Israel's war bonds which fund its genocide of the Palestinian people and the state's continuing role in funding these crimes. #StopFundingGenocide
