Don't say you believe in sin if you casually brush off abuse.
Don't say you believe in grace if you use theology like a big stick.
Don't say you believe in holiness if you slander & revile.
Don't say you believe in humility if you constantly slap people on the wrist.
To the church leadership (elders/pastors/ministry leaders) who refuse to recognize and acknowledge the problem of abuse within their midst and within their ranks. Who treat such abuse as misconduct, moral failures, affairs, or inappropriate relationships. https://t.co/lhOQZNX53P
For those who have not encountered abuse in church settings (spiritual, verbal, emotional, sexual, etc.), I’m so grateful. There ARE healthy leaders & churches. But pls, do not minimize or ignore #AbuseofFaith. With every story heard, there are countless others yet to be spoken.
But I have heard women in congregations blamed for their minister’s misconduct and I’ve heard the words “we just need to forgive our minister; it was just a moral slip.””2/2 https://t.co/iF7keEJDp7
“I’ve never heard someone say “I heard my physician had an affair with one of her patients, and we just need to forgive her.” I’ve never heard patients blamed for their provider’s misconduct. 1/2
My baby girl moved into her first apartment this week. 😢Time, slow down!! She’s a pretty awesome kid and I love to see her grow! ❤️ https://t.co/FwERhK9tQL
When your best efforts aren’t good enough, when you try your hardest & still fail to please, when you give your whole heart & it’s handed back to you in pieces, there is Jesus enthroned in majesty, delighting in you simply because you're His. You are accepted in the beloved.
@BethMooreLPM Ezekiel Chapter 34 was pointed out to me today and I must say it saddens me to have felt the shepherds God appointed that have neglected their flock for the sake of their pride and power. I am thankful God is shepherding my heart even if all others have failed.
It is brave to say, “I am worthy of respect,” especially when it means taking a stand against or walking away from someone you loved once or love still.
Happy 19th Birthday to this beautiful, smart, sweet, talented, goofy, God-loving girl of mine! Skylar, you make me so proud and I want to be you when I grow… https://t.co/8IeDdDJkWM
The whole James MacDonald fiasco is a good reminder (to me, minimally) that the primary quality of being a pastor is not giftedness but character.
Shepherds who don’t live with brokenness & vulnerability have no right to pastor broken people.
Look who is one step closer to being an Aggie graduate! Shaye ordered her graduation ring today. So proud of this girl and how hard she works! 😍❤️ @ Texas A&M… https://t.co/rIIZrMCskl
