Former Labour Deputy Leader Lord Thomas Watson, now Senior Vice President at Palantir Technologies UK Limited, wrote to me defending the firm after I raised concerns about his role and its public contracts.
Instead of trading endless letters, I’ve challenged him to a public, openly chaired debate.
He can defend Palantir's ethos, while I set out the case for democratic control and public accountability.
The public deserves to hear both sides and judge for itself. Will you accept, @tom_watson ?
Greenland fishermen want to cull 1,000 sharks that can live over 400 years and only start to reproduce at the age of 150 with $45 per heart bounty
The plan has been dropped but there is momentum growing to kill the sharks

Use cash locally.
Every card swipe sends a cut to a bank and a data trail to a corporation. Cash doesn’t. It stays in the shop, pays the staff and circulates on your high street instead of vanishing into fees and algorithms. No tracking. No outages. No middleman. Spend it where you live. Keep the money where it matters - in your own community.
One of the most effective ways to improve a town or city street: Plant more trees. 🌳
🌳 Reduces surrounding temperatures and urban heat-island effects
🌳 A habitat for wildlife
🌳 Flood protection
🌳 Beautifies bland urban landscapes

The NHS wants their logo out of our spoof video, but we’re not going to be silenced. We won’t stop criticising their contract with Palantir. After all, it’s not our fault they went into business with a sinister company hungry for our data 👀
Say no to Palantir in the NHS 👇

@changmyung1981 Medtech's ability to harvest & collect Circulating Tumour Cells from a non invasive single blood draw for analysis during the course of treatment & trials is the key to understanding the "here & now' . . .
Your thoughts on CTC capture & utility would be welcomed.
Yeah, let’s go after households who have wood burners and turn a blind eye to the massive AI data centres that guzzle up loads of energy and water while destroying surrounding natural habitats. FFS. They are treating us like suckers.
Palantir's founder hates the NHS, so why is he handling our NHS patient data?
Private companies should be nowhere near our NHS and our patient data
It is time for them to go. Their contract ends in February 2025. You can help make sure it is not renewed

They’ve been dumping shit in the rivers for six years and the punishment is a fine smaller than the CEO’s annual bonus. We get the sewage and the price rises, they get the dividends. It fucking stinks, in more ways than one.
Costa Rica is the first tropical country in the world to successfully reverse deforestation, nearly doubling its forest cover from a historic low of 21–26% in the 1980s to nearly 60% today.
NEW: ‘It’s an implicit threat’. Lord Tom Watson of Palantir writes to one of its biggest critics - Labour MP @labourlewis.bsky.social - to tell him the surveillance firm is watching him.
🚨BREAKING
Andy Burnham has just announced that he will repeal Margaret Thatcher’s ideological ban on public ownership of water companies. This is good news, and a sign of just how intensely this government is feeling the pressure from the public.
But this means absolutely nothing if he does not then bring water into public ownership.
Instead, Burnham’s speech doubled down on regulation as a way to fix the crisis in our water system.
This is doomed to fail. When water companies are fined, they pass them on to us. When bonuses are banned, they call them something else.
Burnham has an open goal with Thames Water. The company is insolvent. And the only option to keep it privatised is to hand it over to US hedge funds. Yet Burnham has failed to take them on today.
Andy Burnham must take Thames Water into special administration and keep it in permanent public ownership. And he can use legislation to make it easier to bring other water companies into public hands when they continue to fail to deliver.
It is time for a water system that truly works for us. Public ownership of water now. Nothing less will do.
This morning, 99% of delegates polled at Labour Conference said that Thames Water should be brought into public ownership.
It's SO obvious what the public want.
Now it's time for Andy Burnham to do it. #labour26 https://t.co/nKCkiaL83I
"My husband, mum, sister, father and neighbours died of cancer. I have cancer in my head and a tumour in my spine.”
A story that is harrowing to read but that makes it all the more important that the story gets told. How forever chemicals are destroying lives. Are you next?

Chinese fishermen are destroying the Marine ecosystem by killing the most protected species!
Chinese fishermen are killing whale sharks in large numbers in the international waters. This needs to stop!
Southampton Council declared a vote of no confidence in @SouthernWater after finding "levels of faecal bacteria 140 times the limit for designated bathing water status" in the River Itchen.
Good for them. Disgusting, as ever, from @SouthernWater.
