@JPWeiland Love this study. I’m a PCP. I’m recommending metformin as part of Covid treatment regimen + antivirals + nasal saline. With metformin I estimate 1/3 people find the GI side effects like nausea and diarrhea too much. So we stop or go lower dose than study protocol.

@briankirsty Hi Brian, there are probably zero data/clinical trials with which to answer your question intelligently! That being said, I would think some benefit for obese or those with diabetes MIGHT be there, but using metformin in kids would involve a couple leaps of faith at this time

I don’t see this becoming AIDS, but I see a massive toll already with LC. Since airborne, we can’t contain without massive trade offs, and so life must go on somehow. How are you gaming this?

@SeattleiteLeo Thanks Leo - I agree that RCT and other studies cannot be applied to this highly variable and complex behavior. Mask fit, consistent use, confounding exposures at home, kids, etc.
I’ve worn an N95 with patients (sometimes Covid+) in small exam rooms - NO infection x 3.5 years
