“The words that you are reading right now could land me in prison for life.”
New op-ed by a #HongKong international student in the McMaster University campus paper, on how the HK #NationalSecurityLaw harms people, even here in Canada. 1/7

Maybe this is why we haven’t heard from Mark Carney if his govt has any plans to counter foreign (esp. from Chinese Communist Party 🇨🇳) interference & infiltration in Canada 🇨🇦.
Canadian voters & those who are interested in learning foreign interference in Canada, study this map carefully👇👇👇

Year after year, there is new evidence that students in Canada are being actively surveilled and threatened by agents and proxies of a hostile foreign state, yet no action is taken to protect us.
We reiterate our call for federal legislation NOW:

1/8 A year ago today, the McMaster Chinese Students & Scholars Assoc.(CSSA) failed to reverse our student union’s move to strip their club status.

A 24-year-old has plead guilty to #sedition in #HongKong & been sentenced to 5 months in prison for 196 posts—189 on LIHKG & 7 on Facebook, including sharing the URL of children’s books about sheep.
Now in all 28 convicted of sedition in HK, 0 acquitted.

Yesterday, on day 8 of our hunger strike, we decided to end the strike due to health concerns for the strikers.
This does not mean we are done.
We have seen so many moved to action to support this movement.
@McMasterU, this is not the end.
This is only the beginning.
Unless @McMasterU listens to students, faculty, and the Hamilton community...
Unless @McMasterU lives up to its responsibilities as a sustainable institution...
