मध्य प्रदेश विधानसभा में मुख्यमंत्री मोहन यादव ने “जय श्री राम” के नारे लगवाए और कहा

“जो हिंदुओं के हित की बात करेगा, वही देश पर राज करेगा।”

साथ ही समान नागरिक संहिता (UCC) पर कहा कि बहुमत से पारित होने के बाद यह मध्य प्रदेश में क़ानून बन चुका है।

अब ज़रा सोचिए अगर यही बात और यही नारे अकबरुद्दीन ओवैसी ने विधानसभा में लगाए होते, तो क्या इसे भी “संविधान सम्मत” बताया जाता?

या फिर उन्हें संविधान, धर्मनिरपेक्षता और लोकतंत्र का पाठ पढ़ाने वालों की लाइन लग जाती?

सवाल यह है कि संविधान की शपथ लेकर सत्ता में बैठे नेता जब धर्म के नाम पर राजनीति करें, तो वह राष्ट्रवाद कहलाता है लेकिन एक मुस्लिम नेता अपने समुदाय के अधिकारों की बात करे, तो उसे संविधान-विरोधी क्यों बताया जाता है?

The issue is not this, the issue is that China wants India to keep the border issue aside in pursuit of normalcy in bilateral ties. But Beijing is unwilling to do anything in return. It provides close operational military support to Pakistan, and has refused to share hydrological data on the Brahmaputra with us. We are the one making concessions, including with considering early harvest on the border issue. Why? There has been no explanation from the @narendramodi government.

Some UBT MPs are also looking to defect to the BJP. Maybe we should ask the two PROMINENT MPs to tell us who ‘threatened’ these MPs to defect to the BJP? Why did the other 19 TMC MPs defect? Maybe it’ll take a month to blame someone. As the Qur’an says “Woe to every backbiter, slanderer” (104:1)

Why are large-scale defections to BJP so easy? Why are all these people running away? You cannot blame one ‘prominent MP’ for all your failures.

Vande Mataram is an ode to a goddess. It cannot be treated on par with the national anthem. Jana Gana Mana celebrates India and its people, not a particular religion. Religion ≠ nation. The man who wrote Vande Mataram was sympathetic to the British Raj and despised Muslims. Netaji Bose, Gandhi, Nehru, and Tagore all rejected it.

The Preamble to the Constitution of India begins with “We, the People” — not “Bharat Maa”. It promises “liberty of thought, expression, belief, faith and worship”. The very first provision of the Constitution, Article 1, describes “India, that is Bharat” as a Union of States.

In the Constituent Assembly, some members wanted the Preamble to begin in the name of a goddess; they specifically invoked Vande Mataram. Others wanted it to begin “In the name of God” and to replace “its citizens” with “her citizens”. All these amendments were defeated.

India, that is Bharat, is its people. The nation is not a goddess; it does not run in the name of a god or goddess, and it does not belong to one god or goddess.
