rough translations showing why GR academia is unsafe. (not that the US is loads better, tho many of us are trying here too!!)
Plus his gender analysis is shit, making me ? his broader scholarship.
“Enough with the surveys. Enough with the eye-opening reports and the heartbreaking stories and the abuse that comes with doing a job we love. It is time for change. In the past, we learned to put up and shut up, but this isn’t good enough anymore. In truth, it never was.”
@Dwnhogendoorn @Helenreflects It happens in any country, but a few Italian (so-called) professors are active in promising permanent positions in exchange for whatever they think they may gain. I know someone who refused (& tried to expose him/them) & her career was over.
Empowering women/men is the best approach to address the varied and often subtle forms of bullying and harassment. What measures does your institution take to foster a positive working environment?

I've never had a University gaslight me as much as this fine institution. All I'm asking for is transparent/clear, student-centered protocols that show a commitment to student health + safety. Instead, I'm being told someone, somewhere sent an email to me that no one can locate.
@Smith17480442 write down your emotions & facts before & after the event and simply observe anything you may feel or experience. No direct confrontation makes you win over a man, unfortunately. Work on yourself & if you can blackmail him with a nice smile on your face, it would be great! ❤️
@Smith17480442 We have the power to transform any negative event into positive. This may seem hard at the moment, but by trying to observe & simply be a witness to what happened without reacting, can turn out very beneficial for your emotional health now & in the future. I would simply advise
@Smith17480442 if you can blackmail him, please do! It is not morally correct to blackmail people, but some deserve it...I would say that they even ask for it when they try to abuse with women. I wish you can turn your pain & anger (totally understandable) into love for yourself.
@Smith17480442 In case you have no kind of evidence, work on yourself to make peace with what happened and leave the past to the past! Karma always pays and the best thing you can do is to care about yourself and learn how to go through tough situations without being affected strongly. However,
@Smith17480442 even if you have evidence of his wrongdoing, be careful before considering a call out or a going to court because it can compromise you unfortunately. If you have the nerves and the money to do it, go for it! But you have to be strong and have emotional support from others.
@Smith17480442 It won't help you much if you have no credible proof. It can even turn against you. There are some options: either you find some proof (which is not substantial, but could compromise him anyway) and blackmail him with a smile on your face (never show your vulnerability to him);or
It is time that also in academia managers who bully employees to force them to leave are recognized as guilty, as in companies. @MeToo_Academia https://t.co/XCklHtEsnH
