The events of the past 24 hours will bring serious and enduring consequences for national security.

Director Joe Kent testified that over 18,000 known or suspected terrorists are now inside the United States. These are individuals who would have been barred from entry under normal security standards because of connections to ISIS, al-Qaeda, and similar groups.

RIP. Texas Police Officer Elijah Garretson was murdered when he was ambushed and killed while responding to reports of a suspicious person.

After lengthy negotiations with officers, the suspect was discovered dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Officer Garretson, 27, had served with the Copperas Cove Police Department for seven months. A recent graduate of the Central Texas College Police Academy, he received the Academic Award for the highest grade point average in the class.
