Dear God,
I sit in the comfort of my bed writing this,
crying out of shame and sorrow and pain.
While I have warmth, food, safety, and freedom, over 11,000 Palestinians remain imprisoned.
Suffering some of the most horrifying
conditions known to man. Waiting to die.
Oh Allah, free every innocent captive.
Ease their pain, comfort their hearts,
reunite them with their families, and
replace their suffering with relief quickly.
Oh Allah, do not let their suffering continue.
Do not let their suffering happen in silence.
Do not let us become people who forget them.
Ameen. Repost this if you read this post.
Today marks Nakba Day, an annual day of remembrance to commemorate the expulsion of more than 700,000 Palestinians between 1947 and 1949 during the creation of the State of Israel and the year that followed.
Inea is a New Yorker and a Nakba survivor. She shared her story with us — one of home, tradition and memory over generations.
