ETHEREUM ROADMAP EXPLAINER FOR THE REST OF US, part 1
This thread will attempt to dumb down @VitalikButerin's series so that even the your average political science major like me can understand it
Let's discuss part 1, "The Merge" which happened on September 15, 2022
Why is a roadmap post talking about something from 2 years ago?
Because Ethereum was the first truly decentralized proof of stake chain.
It has magnitudes more stakers than any other chain.
In the past years we have learned things, and also we have seen the system in production, so we can make improvements.
If you've been following us for a while, you probably know the driving is pretty good, but you might not realize how accessible it is now.

The Race to Scale in Autonomous Driving
@Jason and @___Harald___ from @comma_ai discuss different approaches to autonomous driving.
Waymo and Comma each have their own strategies, but how do they compare?
Here's what they uncovered 🧵
We're hiring someone to own the comma web and mobile experience.
The comma 3X is growing our fleet and making us profitable. And it's about to get some serious improvements to the driving experience (did you catch the last stream?).
The product team is focused on refining the product experience until it feels like something you'd pick up at Best Buy, and the web and mobile experiences are up next.
Our hiring process:
1. pick some (paid) bounties and get them merged
2. quick technical phone call
3. paid, on-site micro-internship
No web/JS experience required; just good programming skills and ability to ship independently.

Glad @Tesla finally came around on driver monitoring!
Looks like sunglasses still aren't supported. Our implementation still tracks head pose and phone usage when wearing sunglasses. And it's MIT licensed, maybe they should check it out!

Ubuntu 24.04 came out a week ago, and the @comma_ai 3X is already running it thanks to @ChosenCypher!

At comma we sell hardware directly to consumers. We design and build the devices in-house.
Sound like fun? Maybe you you should apply for a job;
