There are many ways to become a millionaire.
If you're anything like me, luck has never been on your side. You relied on hard work, discipline, and grit to take you to the where you wanted to be.
I became a millionaire by:
• Starting with a $57k salary
• Living below my means
• Finding creative ways to pay for things I wanted
• Investing consistently
• Being patient while everyone else chased shortcuts
Today I'm a millionaire, but I'm nowhere near finished.
This account is about building wealth the boring way, real strategies that actually work.
Let's see how far patience can take us.

I think people use this argument from the lense of cash flow and growth. But not everything need to be about growth, some things can be slower and require more of your immediate cash flow but provide a safety net should things go awry. I love owning my house but I’m not blind to the fact that I would have grown more in $VOO. Also, to your point, not everyone needs to be ready for a house depending on where you are in life and what your immediate goals are. For me, a house makes sense given I’m married with kids.
@JamesAnderson88 Agree 100%. Nothing wrong with conviction led upside and risk while your core earnings / growth comes from ETFs. This is my investment strategy and has led me to millions
@drewmanchester@DividendBreeder Wouldn’t you want to do traditional in your higher years to lower your taxes? And then 100% Roth when your taxes are lower so you have more left over to invest?
This is the difference between those who become rich and those who stay stagnant
It’s not just about how much more you need to make to start investing but about how you remain disciplined and consistent to grow your investment
As a millionaire, I still look for good deals when I buy things like water, toothpaste, mouth wash, etc. saving a few dollars may seem insignificant but it’s not
My finances may have changed but until I reach my goals, my lifestyle won’t
@theficouple Starting off your post college life like that may not be ideal but it doesn’t necessarily mean you’re stuck. I started off in a similar way and about 11 years later I’m a millionaire. Educating yourself in finance will make the difference
@GuyTalksFinance Impressive! The hard part is usually being able to sustain your current inflation adjusted lifestyle though. People tend to forget that. Although you seem like you have your finances in order so I’m sure you’re aware!
@IndexAndForget Candidly i don’t think anyone was expecting this. Really came out of left field, but I still think (more like hope) it’s a bluff. The market will start pricing this in but again hoping for a complete reversal, making this a great opportunity to buy
@BitcoinTeacher_ I dipped my toes in both, albeit very little “fun money” as I call it. I hated the feeling of losing even though it was like $100. It’s just not for me lol. I do still gamble a bit but strictly with friends, very low stakes and just as a social activity.
@PolymarketMoney Interesting and predictable move. I’m sure this is just the start, Google will remain a powerhouse even through the AI boom era. Such a smart and adaptive company
@GtbTrade I’ve designed my portfolio around this exact thesis (although I thought about it differently). That’s the beauty of being a boring investor with some upside, you’re not afraid of tomorrow but you’re also excited when you see a lot of green. To me, that makes investing fun!
@JGreenCrypto I think that’s a great plan, but a retirement needs a plan too, especially early. This will ensure growth beyond just selling investments. I love to read and I love sports, my retirement plan is to do something with very light hours in that “domain”.
