Naoki Hamaguchi says FF7 Revelation will have an option at a certain point in the game to automatically raise your characters level to to recommended level to progress for those that only want to play the main story.
He says he got a lot of feedback from players only wanting to play the main story in Rebirth and skip the side content, that they were under leveled and struggled.
He says he wants players who want to skip the open-world experience to have a similar linear story driven experience to FF7 Remake so they will include an option that pops up at a certain point asking "Do you want to automatically raise the level to the recommended level?"
He says players that don't want to explore the open world and just want to play the main story can select the option to automatically adjust the level.

Hideo Kojima has revealed new info on what happened with the cancellation of “PHYSINT” in an interview with Gene Park on the Washington Post:
- Sony told Kojima they are cancelling the game via a Zoom call, not in-person
- Hideo Kojima says Sony gave him no reason for the cancellation. He described being shocked rather than angry
- Kojima is still extremely confused by the cancellation as Physint is the biggest selling game he could possibly make
- Physint is still very early in development as an engine has not been chosen yet, most of the studio is focused on “OD”
- Kojima spoke to multiple publishers but landed on Xbox due to their established relationship on OD, Xbox said it was “an easy call”
- Kojima says the plot and overall game concept are written, storyboards exist, 3D modeling has begun, and actors are being scanned.
- Sony’s decision reminded Kojima of Konami canceling Silent Hill
- Kojima insists there is no feud with Sony. Despite being shocked and disappointed, he says Kojima Productions still has a strong relationship with PlayStation and that the companies are “not in a dispute” or fighting.
- The entire staff was informed about the Xbox switch one day before the announcement.
- Kojima rejected speculation that the split involved Sony’s move away from physical gaming. He personally prefers owning physical media.
- Kojima expressed concern about the games industry’s increasing aversion to risk. He worries rising development costs are pushing publishers toward proven blockbuster franchises such as GTA VI rather than experimental & risky projects.
- He also sees Kojima Productions’ survival as important symbolically for indie developers as the studio is fully independent
Honestly, it just sounds like PlayStation made an incredibly short-sighted decision to make up for their recent losses and failures on live service games. I don’t think we’ll see Kojima ever work with them again which is really sad as he’s always been the PlayStation guy. I hope Physint and OD end up amazing!
You may have seen a recent article that mentions KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS, speculating on the reasons for the change in publishing partners for PHYSINT.
Normally, we would not comment on unsubstantiated speculation on the internet, but these aspersions around our relationship with PlayStation, the commercial performance of the DEATH STRANDING franchise, and the broader production planning and investment for PHYSINT, have reached beyond the studio and have touched our fans, our creative partners, and colleagues we have worked alongside with for three decades.
None of the claims written came from any official or on-the-record source and as such we encourage you to take them with a dose of scepticism.
Make no mistake, this was a serious situation for the studio with a range of potentially significant implications. While we recognise that the article may have caused alarm, we want to reassure you all, for the record: that the studio is in a healthy, profitable state, development for PHYSINT continues to move forward with XBOX, and our relationship with PlayStation remains strong.
Thank you for your continued support,
KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS
Bloomberg's Jason Schreier details why #PlayStation parted ways with #Kojima on #Physint, while giving the perspectives of all sides involved.
PlayStation perspective:
Neither Death Stranding 1 or 2 lived up to PS's sales expectations. DS1 sold better than DS1, but a bulk of its sales were discounted (less revenue) and on PC, which PS didn't publish.
As timed exclusives they also didn't drive console sales the way a permanent exclusive might.
A lot of the folk Kojima was closest with at PlayStation, are also no longer at the company, which was also a factor.
They signed on to make Physint, but during early production over the last few years "it has been missing milestones, it has been late on deadlines, it has been over budget, and it has not been living up to PlayStation's expectations", per multiple sources at PlayStation.
There was also uncertainty about the games development, and Kojima was also asking for a lot of money fot it; in the hundreds of millions.
These things coupled with difficult discussions about exclusivity windows (PS don't do PC releases for SP any more), ultimately led to PS cancelling.
The other thing is that with increasing AI shortage prices and PS not expecting to sell as many future consoles, they are now trying to maximise profitability and revenue per user, in other words, less risk averse.
Post Concord, PlayStation also has much more rigorous process with production milestones and development assessment, hence are much more privy to cancellations if targets aren't met, unlike previously where they may have let things run.
Kojima perspective:
Kojima feels games are near enough always late and over budget, especially if you want award winning, prestige building, critically acclaimed or stand out games. Jason even concurs with this notion.
The previous regime at PlayStation was more open to Kojima and this type of project flexibility, whereas the new regime is tightening the purse and wanting stricter controls.
The new PS regimes personalities also clash more with Kojima.
Xbox perspective:
For Xbox, this is a play for more of the Asian market, both Japan and China.
They also see potenial benefit in the movie and film production side of things, and want more exposure to that sector with Kojima.
Unlike PlayStation, they are also happy to publish on PC, hence push the PC platform and take any royalties that come with it, even if Steam takes a lionshare.
Jason does mention some at Xbox, especially the ones recently laid off or studios divested, may feel negatively about this bolder investment into Kojima, which is ultimately expensive and risky at a time they've been heavily cutting costs.
---
He ends with mentioning that Physint is essentially a spiritual successor to Metal Gear Solid, not some niche delivery genre, hence understandable there's been much stronger reactions from players.
