Had a great time at the Arizona state Capitol representing @ArizonaMedicine@ArizonaACP as the Doctor of the Day! ⚕️I love the bipartisan energy for writing and passing bills which make our communities healthier & safer. Wonderful meeting my district 4 reps @MatthewGress@pamelacarter888@CarineWerner Imperative to continue the conversations about key health issues! Everyone is a past, current, or future patient.
There's a record heat wave in the Eastern US, forest fires increasing, and flooding with a hailstorm in Idaho...What is the current administration doing about it? What are they doing about the climate crisis and reliance on fossil fuels? Nothing helpful. Just making it worse by cancelling our Atlantic wind turbine contracts, removing liability from pesticide companies, loosening @EPA requirements, and defunding @NatlParkService (a group that prevents and manages forest fires). @WhiteHouse@POTUS@VP@SenateDems@SenateGOP@GOPHELP@HouseDemocrats@HouseGOP@NWS@ewg Anyone else remember Trump suggesting raking forest floors in 2018, to prevent wildfires? How's that going? https://t.co/E41VTDlprQ
Polio vaccine is safer than polio
Diphtheria vaccine is safer than diphtheria
Measles vaccine is safer than measles
Tetanus vaccine is safer than Tetanus
And yes Covid vaccine is safer than Covid

You have not even practiced Medicine in 18 years. Embryos should not have more or even equivalent rights to pregnant woman. When you have a poster board like that, maybe you should depict the embryos to scale...why are they so big? You are trying to manipulate people into forcing women to do things they don't want. You were a gastroenterologist. You were not a women's health specialist, OB GYN or PCP. And you are not a woman yourself. Shame on you for degrading women's rights.
Or better yet, since these are for-profit companies reportedly making a $50k profit per placental gift, they should be required to share a substantial portion of the profit with the donor, including to cover pregnancy medical expenses.
Horse drawn carriages need to be banned. A horse has died (probably because it was being tortured and had visible bruises and likely heat stroke) and an 18 yr old died from expulsion injury in the absence of a seat belt. @NYCMayor@GovKathyHochul@peta
Please do not squirt coffee up your butt.
Coffee enemas are not a treatment for cancer.
What scares me isn’t just the burns, infections, or rectal injuries.
It’s that someone with cancer might delay treatment that could actually save their life because they trusted the wrong person online.
People vomit in various places, including public bathrooms, airplanes, airports, etc. Most of these places are not healthcare facilities. Additionally, in hospitals and clinics, not every surface is 100% germ free, that's why physicians practice hand hygiene when entering and leaving every patient room, as well as gloves while examining the patient. No one would ever "touch vomit" on purpose.
Exceptionally well-written article by Dr. Termitope Ogundare: “The Most Dangerous Thing About AI Is How Human It Feels”. @Medscape@ColumbiaMed@nyphospital https://t.co/kNeYcl0yYN

As a usability testing expert I have some feedback regarding the Google Home:
There is no closed loop communication with the initial prompt. When you say “Hey Google” it doesn’t say “Yes?” or make a sound to indicate that it heard you. This is essential as people may not visualize the device or it may be in the other room.
I was cooking and set a timer on my Google Home and it confirmed it. A few minutes later, I asked Google how many minutes were left on my timer…it said I have no timer. A minute late, the timer rang.
@DrPlantel Also, for anyone who doesn’t get it: Vaping and e-cigarette use is not healthy for the lungs and the flavors are a gateway to attract younger customers.
Agreed! Many major e-cigarette and vape companies are owned or heavily backed by "Big Tobacco". Facing declining cigarette sales, traditional tobacco corporations have aggressively acquired or invested in major vaping brands to maintain their stronghold on the nicotine market. @ACP_DCchapter@IMMattersACP@LungAssociation@atscommunity@SCCM https://t.co/IxOEgMAo6o
Sooooo the tobacco company Reynolds American donated $5 million to MAGA Inc, and about a week later the Trump administration rolled out a new FDA policy that could open the door for tobacco companies to profit off flavored vape sales….
Uhhhh none of this supports the MAHA movement. I mean it was a joke of a movement anyway, but “radical transparency” my ass. The optics here are…something.
The number of people who think mothers should be expected to fully care for a newborn without help immediately after a C-section is honestly insane.
A C-section is major abdominal surgery.
A 4–6 inch incision through multiple layers of abdominal wall and tissue…while simultaneously recovering from pregnancy, sleep deprivation, hormonal shifts, bleeding, pain, and trying to feed and care for a newborn.
Are we applying this same logic to literally any other surgery?
Would you expect someone after a hernia repair or abdominal surgery to immediately become the primary caretaker of another human 24/7 with minimal recovery time or support?
And no, C-sections are not always a “choice.”
Sometimes they are medically necessary.
Sometimes they are emergencies.
Sometimes they save lives.
And even if someone did choose pregnancy, that does not suddenly make them undeserving of rest, recovery, pain control, or support afterward.
I’ve seen women talking about going back to work before they’ve even properly healed because they literally cannot afford unpaid leave.
That should disturb all of us.
The way society minimizes postpartum recovery, especially after C-sections, says a lot about how little we value women’s health and caregiving labor.
Quiet features save lives.
At WVU Medicine, a concerning patient message was received at 9:11am and immediately categorized by Epic AI as "Urgent." Within 12 minutes, the care team responded — connecting with the patient and directing them to the Emergency Department.
The patient was actively experiencing a stroke, and the rapid identification and response enabled timely emergency care.
Throughout their shifts, care teams can receive an overwhelming number of patient messages with varying levels of urgency. Now, Epic AI can scan messages to determine their urgency and category before flagging the proper prioritization and categorization for the care team.
😂 Funniest things I heard recently:
-A 6 yr old kid telling his mom: “I want to start a podcast, but I don’t know what it would be about”
-@TimHortons employee: “Would you like to add a cookie to your order for $1? Proceeds go to the children’s hospital” @thefoodbabe@AmerAcadPeds@ObesitySociety@ObesityAction@HHSGov@FTC@CanadianPM
-New employee getting a tour at the @ymca: “That’s the wet steam room, and that’s the dry steam room [pointing at the sauna]”
