If parliament passes that quality of care bill with those clauses that criminalise medical misadventures, then we shall go on strike until ALL hospitals have equipment, medicines,labs and ENOUGH NUMBER OF HEALTHCARE WORKERS!
This is not a threat,its a promise!!Healthworkers sacrifice so much to work in a broken system that it is annoying to even imagine that they are to blame for preventable patient deaths!!

There’s no healthcare provider who goes to the profession to kill,Infact if it goes by anything the most traumatizing deaths in practice was maternal death and this rarely comes from incompetence but the shortcomings we have. I lost a mother to eclampsia and PPH due to lack of blood and key medications to help manage the situation purely on systemic failure not a skill or competence issue. To now criminalize and witch hunt healthcare provider means two things now,providers will not try to go and extra mile in their maternal care,we shall have nurses tossing patients to COs,COs tossing the same parties to MOs,MOs referring to obs/gyns etc and at the end the outcomes may even be worse because the element of accessibility becomes an issue.
This is why I keep saying some of the things on healthcare suggested in this government stems from nothing but ignorance of the key determinants and health needs of the society.
We’re never achieving universal maternal healthcare coverage with such punitive moves to criminalize the act of healthcare provision. Any negligence and medical legal issues should go through the respective boards as it has been.
We have a lot of criminals on the loose out there,leave the medics alone and give them a conducive environment to work.
