Opportunities in Therapy Practice:
1. Direct patient care: create a direct interface with the patient from their entry into a radiation therapy department through the course of their treatment.

@iaeaorg Hard to imagine performing a treatment without a mask since it is incredibly useful for precision care. Overall it helps facilitate safe, reliable treatments. Here’s a related (inspiring) story about this topic: https://t.co/Wt4CqmJi23
Here’s a MP3.0 inspiring story about adding real patient-centered value to the treatment itself. Have one to share of your own? DM us! Check out our website for more details on this process improvement.

What if the biggest opportunity in Medical Physics isn’t new technology, but new conversations?
Physicists shape patient care every day, yet patients rarely meet the people ensuring safety and precision.
#TG422 recognizes this.

Radiotherapy is a team effort.
Radiation oncologists, medical physicists, dosimetrists, therapists, nurses, and others work together to deliver safe, effective cancer care.
Medical physics translates science into precision treatments ensuring quality & patient-centered care. 👇
Radiotherapy has been used since the 1890s and is one of the most common cancer treatments.
Read our #NuclearExplained article to learn about the different types of radiotherapy, medical imaging and our role in #CancerCare4All.

How can AI expand access in medical physics?
The Medical Physics 3.0 SMART Expansion session at #SWAAPM2026 highlighted opportunities to connect rural physicists and foster collaboration beyond geographic boundaries, domestically and globally.
Innovation through connection.
MP3.0 aims toward sustainable excellence by a stronger focus on the patient (as opposed to the technology) & by harnessing a scientific, service, & system-minded orientation to tailor medical interventions for greater precision and patient-specificity.

As healthcare professionals, medical physicists today make significant contributions to quality, safety, & innovation in many medical procedures. The goal of MP3.0 is for physicists to be more involved in the clinical process. #TG422#MedicalPhysics#PhysicsForEveryPatient
“Every machine in a Hospital that diagnoses your body without cutting you open is based on a principle of Physics, discovered by a Physicist who had no interest in Medicine.” -NDT
And medical physicists are the bridge to safe, reliable patient-centered care.

Every machine in a Hospital that diagnoses your body without cutting you open is based on a principle of Physics, discovered by a Physicist who had no interest in Medicine.
If you think the world doesn’t need Basic Science, or that somehow Science has failed you, think again.
We have incredible technical talent in medical physics.
The next frontier is leadership and collaboration — building safer systems, stronger teams, and better care together.
This is how our profession continues to grow.

Medical Physics 3.0 doesn’t move forward on ideas alone, progress is made by people actively pushing forward.
Call to action: The MP3.0 Grassroots subcommittee is looking for motivated members for this upcoming year. If you’re interested, drop us a message!
Every day, medical physicists quietly safeguard quality, accuracy, and patient safety. Advocacy ensures that work isn't silent. If you're open to advocating towards this goal, join us by giving us a message!

When patients ask: “Who makes sure the radiation is safe?” TG-422 is helping bring that answer to the patient. By supporting physicist-patient communication, we’re making medical physics more visible, more valuable, and more impactful.

Why MP3.0 instead of MP2.0?
MP2.0 WAS an initiative, but purely focused on imaging. In light of this and to broaden its scope to include radiation therapy and more, MP3.0 was the logical evolution. Additionally, an ACR imaging 3.0 movement exists that we wanted to closely align.
True impact comes from collaboration. To add value where possible, MP3.0 urges physicists to engage actively with clinicians, IT, data scientists, and administrators to drive high-reliability care.
