Master media or be at its mercy • I teach you how media platforms and businesses work so you can beat them at their own game • Educator, former media worker
5 years ago I was lost.
I was living a big city and working at one of the biggest media companies in the world.
By most accounts, I was living the life. But I wasn't happy.
Here's how one big change got me back on track.
I'll be back with an announcement one way or another when I'm ready.
I'll try to be around the Discord and Circle communities I'm part of, and I might just have a tweet or two here or there in the meantime.
See you later!
This week I found myself counting down the days until my monthly Twitter fast due to start Feb. 1.
Then I realized, why don’t I start it earlier?
But this time it won’t just be a week. I need a longer break. 👇
I’ve come to realize that talking about social media on social media — fighting fire with fire — is exhausting.
So I've been considering expanding Media Wisdom outside Twitter — or stopping it.
I'm going to take some time to think that through. 👇
You thought streaming was a saturated market.
Netflix is gaining subscribers slowly. Its stock has taken a beating.
But Disney+ and HBO Max are piling on followers.
A saturated market = big opportunities.
“Real” social media
1. No algorithm
2. You can only post once a day (I have a friend working on this)
3. No metrics, no numbers
4. No indication of who follows you at all. You follow who you want and others do the same.
Remove the vanity, retain the sanity
The bad news:
There are countless products in the world.
The good news:
There are billions of consumers in the world.
There's still space for your product.
