Seeing multiple accounts post a video of a young su1c1de victim in his final moments before the act, and I'd just like to say that y'all are vultures for using it to farm engagement. You can be critical of the government and raise issues like unemployment without posting that clip. So please stop with the holier than thou attitude while you bake bread on someone's pyre. You're not fooling anyone.
It was in 2023 that my former colleague at TheHindu & a dear friend @Rolionaroll founded The Migration Story, along with fellow journalist Anuradha Nagaraj. A newsroom focusing on Indian migrant workforce, it has come a long way with its fabulous reportage & research 1/2

Can't stop thinking about Elon Musk, the wealthiest man alive worth $828 billion, spending $290 million to elect Trump, becoming $563 billion richer since Trump was elected and ending humanitarian aid that will lead to the deaths of 4.5 million of the poorest kids on the planet.

Our poster boy for the Save Vetal Tekdi movement, Narayan aka Dagdu died peacefully of old age today.
2 years back he fell off the quarry cliff, was found after 3 days with a fractured shoulder, half dead, was rescued by a kind soul and recovered miraculously after an amputation surgery.
He used to hang out at the topmost Vetal mandir. This evening the guruji there performed his final rites and buried him under his favorite trees. He was loved and cared for by so many people till the very end.
May his spirit continue to inspire us to save the tekdi from the destructive projects planned on it 🙏❤️
Weekly reminder to rescue an indie dog if you can. Bring them into your home if able. They are resilient, super affectionate, and hardy. The journey of watching them discover safety, toys, a bed, a good nights sleep, learn to have fun…it will be a life journey to witness greater than your own. This is Lucy and Stoopee. Both have many friends out there right now who would light up your home with love.
The first extract from the book was published over the weekend in @Mint_Lounge! You can read it here: https://t.co/ZiJ8O3XMr1
How a BA graduate became an engineer on an H-1B visa in the United States
It’s centred on a protagonist from Wild Wild East, Sreenivas (@KumarXclusive), and his 12-year-long struggle to get an H-1B visa—or, as he used to call it, his “Dream America”. Much like the rest of the book, this excerpt does two things at once: It tells you a person’s story and, through it, reveals a larger world. In this thread, I’ll elaborate on the latter, sharing relevant links and screenshots from the book, which will help you understand the seamy side of the H-1B program better.
So here it is, as they call it, a 🧵(1/12).
Delhi folks, I’ll be doing a book tour in the city this Wednesday (22nd April), visiting four lovely bookstores. (I’ve loved all of them over the years, for specific reasons, so this makes it all the more special.) If you’re free and interested, please drop by, it’ll be wonderful to see you all!
