It’s official!

President Ramchandra Paudel has signed the new electoral bills into law today, marking one of the most significant electoral reforms in over 35 years.

Major changes include:

✅ Voting Rights for Nepalis Abroad
Millions of Nepali citizens living and working overseas will now be able to register and cast their votes through Nepali embassies and consulates under the Proportional Representation (PR) system.

✅ “No Vote” (NOTA) Option
Future elections will include a “None of the Above” (NOTA) option, giving voters the right to formally reject all candidates if they are dissatisfied with the choices available.

A historic step toward a more inclusive and democratic Nepal. 🇳🇵

@sumanbasnet There are veg options at all places but Nepal Go, Sichuan Town and New Chong Qing have bigger menus so they have more veg dishes. For a meat-heavy cuisine, there are actually lots of good veg Chinese dishes.

After trying over a dozen Chinese restaurants in Thamel/Jyatha, here are my top 5:

1. Lanzhou Pulled Noodles
2. Leshan BBQ
3. Nepal Go Restaurant
4. Kung Fu Noodles

- कोभिड-१९ को बेला केपी ओली सरकारको व्यवस्थापकीय असफलतालाई ढाकछोप गर्न, नेकपा भित्रको आन्तरिक किचलो लाई राष्ट्रवादी हथौडा मार्न द्रुत गतिमा चुच्चे नक्शालाई राष्ट्रवादको रकेटमा बसालेर संविधान संशोधन गर्यो, लाग्थ्यो नेपालसँग १००% प्रमाण सुरक्षित छ!

- संविधान संशोधन पश्चात केपीले LLK मा नेपालको दाबी सावित गर्न प्रमाण संकलन र अध्ययन कमिटी बनाएको थियो। आजसम्म नेपालले नेपालको दाबी पुग्नेगरी अध्ययन पुरा गर्यो? प्रमाण संकलन कार्य फत्ते भए नभएको बहस पनि हुँदैन।

- पछिल्ला ५-६ वर्षमा नेपालले भारतको "#जग्गा_मिचेको" बारे स्वेम भारतले कहिले गुनासो गरेको सुनिएन, पढिएन, देखिएन।

-- श्री बालेन्द्रले संसद्को रोष्टरमबाट नेपालले पनि भारतको जग्गा मिचेको भनी उच्च कोटिको परिपक्व अभिव्यक्ति दिएर भारतलाई भविष्यमुखी ' क्लेम' गर्न स्पेस दिनुभाको हो?

-- श्री बालेन्द्र महेन्द्रीय attire रुचाउनु हुन्छ। हे श्री बालेन्द्र, तपाईंको attire icon महेन्द्रले LLK दाबीमा चुइक शब्द नबोलेको रेकर्ड पक्कै पढ्नु भएको होला।

Foreign Ministry clarifies that Balen meant 'cross-border occupation' even though he distinctly used the term encroachment. Guess he misspoke 🤷🏾‍♂️

Here is a transcription of what Balen Shah said in Nepali and a literal translation in English. There is a lot of talk about what he "meant" but we can't know that unless he clarifies. The word that he used was "मिचेको", which translates to "encroached". Make of it what you will.

@van_blon I don't know about Loulan but there's Leshan BBQ, which serves fantastic cumin and chili Leshan-style skewers.

@inkthink Just remembered-Royal China Mountain Restaurant in Uttar Dhoka is also pretty good (loved the laziji). The main chef/owner worked in the first Chinese restaurant in Nepal, which had a tough time during the insurgency.
