The hardest product decision isn’t always what to build. Sometimes, it’s knowing what NOT to build yet.
A stakeholder approached me to design a school website. But after discovery, the problem became much bigger than pages and screens.
It became a question of how to create a digital foundation that serves prospective parents today, while preparing the institution for student, parent and teacher experiences tomorrow — without building more technology than the school is currently ready to operate.
In this article, I break down how I moved from stakeholder discovery → PRD → product strategy → UX architecture → design system → engineering, including the architectural trade-offs and why we chose phased delivery over building the entire academic platform at once.
Good product work isn’t just about building what’s possible. It’s about building what creates value now, without making tomorrow harder.
If you’re a school owner, education stakeholder, founder or organisation considering digital transformation, this is the thinking I believe should happen before the first screen is designed.

Tiny Framer update, but a really good one.

I've been waiting for this one for a long time.

The goal of a landing page isn't to show everything. It's to help people make their first decision.
For Power-8, we realised that most Nigerians don't wake up thinking, "I need a 5KVA inverter" or "I need a 550W solar panel." They simply want reliable electricity without spending a fortune.
That's why the hero section isn't built around products—but the user's journey.
Instead of overwhelming visitors with technical specifications, we answer the questions they're already asking:
• Can this solve my electricity problem?
• Can I afford it?
• Where do I start?
The design guides users toward three clear paths:
* Calculate what your home needs.
* Browse products if you already know what you want.
* Explore instalment options if affordability is your biggest concern.
Every headline, image, and call to action is intentionally designed to reduce confusion, build trust, and move visitors one step closer to a confident purchase.
Good design is about making important decisions feel simple. Full website link dropping soon.
