Very simple truth this morning and one that’s never wasted on me:
“The Lord is my source of security.” Ps.119:57 NET
Blessed are the family members, neighbors, coworkers, friends, fellow sojourners and associates of those who aren’t looking to them for their security.
Some freedom comes from having the people-pleaser beaten up in you. With coming to the conclusion there is nothing you can do to please your critics but quit & you’re too undignified to keep the approval of those you admire. You still love them but you’re no longer bound to them.
“You just have to get rid of so much baggage to be light enough to dance, to sing, to play. You don’t have time to carry grudges; you don’t have time to cling to the need to be right.” ~@ANNELAMOTT
Part of an ad on Facebook: “When in doubt, just buy it!” Might be one of the worst pieces of financial advice ever. Do exactly the opposite. Even if you’re sure, you probably don’t need to buy it. 😂🤷🏻♀️
We must choose what we will do with humans. We can hide, hate, or run from them, but then the trauma still has mastery. Trauma brings helplessness, and recovery brings choice. The return of choice is an immense gift in healing.
Trauma took away choice. Part of healing from trauma means one must eventually choose whether she/he will love again, care again, and reach for another human being again. Surviving and then telling our story returns that to us.
