Thank you everyone for all of your support! β€οΈπΊπΈ

Year 6 of teaching sure looked a LOT different than I thought it would. Pregnant Pandemic Teaching took me for a wild ride and I canβt believe itβs over. Just waiting for Baby Smith to make his debut any day now π€°πΌπ βοΈ
School administrators canβt build culture by themselvesβ¦ but they can certainly set the right tone. And that tone is:
Admin supports the teachers.
The teachers collaborate to support the students.
Weβre gonna have fun doing it.
Who did it better...me with my 37.5 week pregnant belly π€°πΌ or part of my 4th period and their balloon belliesππ #sometimesyagottalaugh#ihavethebeststudents πππ€π€
Some parents judge schools by the test scores. But there are a lot of parents who judge schools by the attitude of their child when they get home in the afternoon. We need to be working to raise student achievement⦠but we also need to be creating good experiences for kids.
If you have a former coach who you can still call, Snap, Facebook, text, FaceTime, etc. then you had a coach who put you first & created lifelong, caring relationships with players. That isnβt always the case, so consider yourself lucky & keep those relationships close to heart.
Yesterday my good friend @Torvanaro let me steal a βjust for fun assignmentβ for students to do after they finished virtual learning, challenging them to do something either outside in all of the snow or cozy/indoors & send me a picture/photo. Would highly recommend!! β·βοΈβοΈ

Since this is a global pandemic and people from all walks of life are being affected, why wouldnβt we take all the money and resources set aside for standardized testing and reallocate those dollars to adding counselors and mental health resources for school communities?
At around 11am, WHS received a threat. We immediately sheltered in place and contacted the WPD. The police secured the building and are currently investigating the situation. All students, staff and building personnel are safe.
We will update you as the situation progresses.
