A new secret has been found in Dynamite Headdy!
The B-A-C-A code that Maegawa previously mentioned is actually in Dynamite Headdy, not McDonald's TLA.
@TreasureCoLtd これ、何か覚えていますか?
Treasure founder Masato Maegawa once recalled putting a code that spells "baka" into *McDonald's Treasureland Adventure* after getting frustrating feedback.
It's not in the final game, but I found it in *Dynamite Headdy*!
B-A-C-A-↓ makes the Sega logo fall with a boom sound.

I just found out about the Nintendo 64's secret screen three minutes ago. What is this? When planning the VMU, I took inspiration from keychain games like Tamagotchi and Mini Tetris. We didn't take inspiration from any other consoles.
Must-watch for PlayStation history buffs.
It focused a lot on Masahide Ohashi, the Toshiba engineer who designed the PS1's GPU and its texture-mapping capabilities. He sadly died of cancer just one year after the PS1's release.
I had never heard his story before.
@GameResearch_E@retroOtoko I think there might be some confusion going on here. It's definitely pronounced yah-mah-ooh-chee (no stress) in Japanese, but perhaps sounds the way you're saying to an English speaker when spoken naturally.
Just checked many examples on Youtube, e.g.:

@Dosunceste My comment was clearly talking about the home console market, not the handheld market.
Consolidated profit numbers aren't very useful since they only indirectly reflect subsidiary profits/losses (and usually on a delay). And, Sega was chasing revenue growth, not profits.
People say Sega made a big mistake by not using the SGI chipset (used in the N64).
SOA's problem with the Saturn was the cost. They certainly could not have overcome this with the SGI chipset. When the N64 was released, it cost ¥5000 more than the Saturn, without a CD drive.
RINGS OF SATURN: I found a cool Easter egg in *Radiant Silvergun*:
* Start playing Arcade mode
* Get between 240K and 250K points
* Enter your 77th place initials as "SRK"
All extra options, plus an otherwise-inaccessible INVINCIBLE option, will be unlocked!

There is not much contact between me in AM and Mr. Naka in CS. Nevertheless, I feel I owe him a debt of gratitude for the good treatment he gave me at SEGAGAGA, so I drew SONIC in this way, alongside President Nakayama, who is rarely talked about nowadays
@k_huntington And to make the comparison balanced we should only look at software revenue.
Sega's software revenue today is 10 times what it was in 1994.
I see takes like this all the time, but...
Sega Sammy's revenue for FY2024 was ¥467 billion yen! That's much greater than in the 90s. For consumer sales: Sega did about the same this year as at its 90s peak (93 and 94). It's one of the top 5 Japanese game publishers.
@STGshmups It's also complicated by the value of the yen, which has changed a lot over the past 30 years, but Sega's sales have also shifted heavily to Japan since then, so a comparison isn't easy.
