Do you ever wish you could analyze the local and mid-range structure of thin films? Us too!
Check out our paper and programs toward new atomic structure insights of thin films on single crystal substrates - aka thin film pair distribution function analysis.

I was awarded an @NSF CAREER award this year and I’m so excited to answer some big Qs about disordered rocksalt oxides and energy storage, and to combine dance and STEM.
After a bunch of rejected proposals, getting this one feels really special.
Cheers to the good 🧡
Interested in compositionally complex oxides or ceramics? Contribute to our symposium at the American Ceramic Society conference, EMA in Denver in February and tell us about your cool HEO/ESO/CCO work! Abstract deadline is Monday October 7: https://t.co/ohqS0rmKJp.
I had such a great time meeting visiting @ncstatemse today! Thank you so much to @Vero_Augustyn for hosting me for a wonderful day of great science discussions.
Interested in compositional complexity and magnetism? Check out an exciting collaborative work on compositionally complex perovskite (Y0.2La0.2Pr0.2Nd0.2Tb0.2)MnO3 - now published in J. Mater. Chem. C ! https://t.co/Dcmihn1e03
Interested in phase change materials? Mixed ionic-covalent materials? EXAFS analysis?
Lovely work by @JohnLanghout_ and awesome coworkers on the role of C to modify phase change behavior in Ge2Sb2Te5 thin films.
Proud of my @ButalaGroupBRG !!

This declaration is not hyperbole - routinely, I am on panels where the number of proposals worthy of support is double what is possible AND the cost of supplies has skyrocketed AND grad students deserve reasonable stipends AND there are new initiatives needed at NSF.
It was a delight to host you and catch up. Also - the all tungsten talk was a beaut! An elegant journey of electrochemistry and structure.
Thank you so much for spending the day with us, @Vero_Augustyn !
Do you like compositionally-complex / entropy-stabilized / high-entropy oxides?! Check out our symposium on these materials at EMA 2024, a meeting of the American Ceramics Society in Denver in Feb.
Check out the symposium description and submit an abstract to present by 9/25.

Someone asked me what advice I'd give my younger self: FIND PEOPLE WHO SUPPORT YOU!
Seriously. My community has made the difference for me. Always. Get plugged in, ask questions, and embrace feeling a little awkward!
