Social change advocate and mom fighting to improve the Detroit area and stay sane. Exec Director of TRU but not tweeting for TRU. Opinions are purely my own.
@AugChr@georgerevere2@DonnieDetroit19 Did you know Canada paid the entire $4 billion construction cost, yet still agreed to share ownership with Michigan?
And that Trump supported the bridge in 2017 and 2019?
I'm so excited about this proposal! If a family makes over a million a year, they can afford to invest 5% more in Michigan kids.
Only the deeply selfish could honestly oppose this!
A coalition is pursuing a ballot proposal in Michigan to institute a 5% surcharge against the income of people making more than $500,000 to provide funding for K-12 schools. https://t.co/LMzZ1rVFgc
Detroit has demolished its way into housing scarcity. Just stunning stuff.
Like being next to plentiful fresh water in the midst of a drought and deciding to just boil it all off. I guess we still have time to do that, too, though.
@TheDemocrats To clarify, @GovWhitmer signed a bill that weakened minimum wage and sick leave protections!! 😒😡
The voters who signed petitions to put those issues on the ballot wanted much stronger protections and she watered them down.
The share of Americans employed by the government steeply dropped in the decades leading up to 2000, and has remained essentially flat since. A bloating federal workforce is a myth.
At a Town Hall with Rep @ShriThanedar - 150+ people are demanding he do more to fight against illegal Trump/Musk firing of critical federal employees and shuttering of essential programs.
He's making good but vague statements.
There are basically 5 ways to accumulate a billion dollars:
1) Profiting from a monopoly
2) Insider-trading
3) Political payoffs
4) Fraud
5) Inheritance
Don’t believe the self-made myth.
Instead of illegally trying to shut down huge pieces of our government that serve working people, Elon Musk could cut $2 trillion of actual waste by targeting handouts to the rich and powerful.
Here’s how: (🧵)
Germany invaded Poland -- but blamed Poland for starting the war, and it remained a Hitler talking point for years.
Russia invaded Ukraine -- but blamed Ukraine for starting the war, and it remained a Putin talking point for years.
And Donald Trump just repeated it.
There is always endless money to bomb people, but not for clean water, health care, and housing. Our elected officials are choosing another record-breaking Pentagon budget when it can't even pass an audit. I'm sick of it.
