I’m excited to announce my partnership with the Digital Lab for an online Arabic calligraphy workshop! Over 3 weeks, we’ll explore the beauty of the Diwani script, from individual letters to crafting elegant sentences.

I am excited to discuss @SheraliTareen's book at @ACSAMadison next month! Congratulations SherAli on publishing what promises to be a thrilling read - sitting down to read it this week.
What a way to start the week! An advance copy of Mbaye Lo and Carl Ernst’s “I Cannot Write My Life: Islam, Arabic, and Slavery in Omar Ibn Said’s America” arrived! Can’t wait to revisit America’s past through Omar’s eyes.
“In the late 18th century, a Mughal woman named Sharaf un-Nisa lived with and bore children by the first Company Supervisor of Purnea. She followed him to Britain, changed her name to Elizabeth, and converted to Christianity.” Read more by @MeganEatonRobb. https://t.co/BIVJhST9Oo
My Punjabi translation of J.M. Coetzee’s short story, The Dog, is out in the new issue of Pancham Magazine. Coetzee is one of the finest writers I’ve ever come across, and his work means so much to me.
In this forthcoming book with @UNC_Press, Mbaye Lo and Carl Ernst write Omar Ibn Said, the author of the only known autobiography in Arabic by an enslaved person in the US, back into history. This story is going to be a game changer and I cannot wait to see it exist in the world.
Please join us on Tues 21 March 12-1:15 PM EST for an online talk by Dr. Harini Kumar @harini747 for "Restoring Mosques, Preserving History," moderated by Ali Mian @RAHMArainsONme
